Remake of the classic Platypus game
Platypus Reclayed is a premium action game developed by Claymatic Games. It is a remake of the classic 2D side-scrolling shooter adventure Platypus, originally released in 2002. One of its main highlights is the unique graphics and animation that utilize a technique called claymation to achieve a distinct presentation.
In addition to the updated graphics from the original Platypus game, the new Platypus Reclayed also includes new content and gameplay mechanics that build upon the core gameplay of its predecessor. These help the game become more in line with modern gaming experiences, while staying true to its roots.
Legendary fighter squad
In Platypus Reclayed, Colossatropolis, a once-thriving futuristic metropolis, is on the brink of collapse and has set its sights on the neighboring city of Mungola for expansion. However, it won’t go down without a fight, and its last hope lies in the legendary fighter squadron made up of the antique F-27 plane known as the “Platypus”, which you’re a pilot of.
Play solo or two-player co-op, and take on waves of enemies in fast-paced, intense shootouts using one of multiple ships crafted for different play styles. Along the way, you get to pick up power-ups and extra abilities that grant momentary boosts and new weapons, including missile launchers, fireball cannons, and even one that channels electricity that changes how you play in different ways.
There are three difficulty levels to choose from to cater to your skill level. However, some levels are locked behind higher difficulty modes, encouraging you to get good if you want to experience all the game has to offer. Having said that, Platypus Reclayed is still a very hard game that will challenge even veteran players in the genre space.
Modernized classic
Simply put, Platypus Reclayed is an impressive remake of the original game and makes improvements across the board to offer a modern yet classic and faithful yet progressive experience for new and returning fans to experience. Suffice it to say, it gets an easy recommendation and is pretty much a must-play if you are a fan of shmups. Check it out now.
